Nature Nugget: Freshwater Fish Sometimes freshwater fish get sick with a disease called ich. Ich is a parasite that causes lots of tiny white spots on fish, but inside it hurts their intestines. Ich can multiply and infect other fish. The Bible says in Proverbs 12:26, "The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the ways of the wicked leads them astray." Whomever we spend a lot of time with can influence us for good or for bad. Like fish infected with ich, if we copy the bad things others do, we become sick with sin, too. We should be kind and loving to everybody, but that doesn't mean that we follow everyone and participate with them in all they do. Choose your friends carefully. Memory Mastery: Creation Week We are going to practice our Days of Creation until we perform it up front at church. Please practice at home with your child. Mission Mail: Rachele's Prayers Dear Patterson Kids, My name is Rachele, and I am 8 years old. I live in Italy. One day, the teacher announced that I would be sitting next to the meanest kid in class named Alessandro. I told my mom that I was scared, and she told me to pray. So, I prayed everyday for Alessandro that Jesus would help him be kind and that Alessandro and I would be friends. God answered my prayers. Alessandro changed into a nice a person, and we are friends now. Is there someone you can pray for? Sincerely, Rachele Bible Story: Joshua Talks to God's People Joshua led the children of Israel into the promised land after Moses died. He and his friend Caleb were mighty warriors for God. Caleb fought the big giants, so he and his family could live in the land Hebron. Joshua settled each of the tribes of Israel in their new land, except for the tribe of Levi. The Levites were scattered among the lands of the other tribes in 48 special cities. At the end of his life, Joshua talked to God’s people. “Everyday, you must choose whom you will obey. I and my family choose to obey God. He has helped us all these years.” The people said they wanted to choose God, too. But, after Joshua died, the people went back and forth between remembering to follow God and serving idols. You also have a choice to make each day. Will you obey God?
