Church Closed Today Due to snow storm, all Patterson AVE SDA Church activities are canceled today, including Sabbath School and the Worship Service. I hope everyone stays warm and safe and enjoys the snow. Below are a couple of highlights of what we would have heard today. Mission Trip: The Invitation We are still visiting the villages in the Amazon River. Today we meet Amanda, a little girl who went to some Bible meetings and fell in love with Jesus. She invited her mom to come. Together they joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church and were baptized. Now Amanda is in pathfinders and continues doing missionary work in her community. Isn't it exciting to see what God is doing over there? Bible Story: Hiding from God Take Home Guide

Early Bird Special: Earth's Birthday Party Children who arrive between 9:30 and 9:45 AM get to do a bonus activity in Sabbath School. Today, our early birds set-up our table area for earth's birthday party. We remembered that for special occasions we do things in a special way - eat special food, dress in special clothes, be with special people, do special activities, and look forward to the whole thing. This is how Sabbath is supposed to be every week - a special, happy day! Nature Nugget: Cats Have you ever heard of the term cat nap? Cats like to take lots of little naps during the day. They always make sure they get their rest. God wants us to value rest, too. So we can be healthy and happy, we need regular sleep each night. The Bible says in Exodus 34:21, "Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest." We also need rest from school and work. God made the Sabbath for us to focus our minds on Him through church, family time, nature outings, and visiting others. Memory Mastery: The 10 Commandments As a class, we are working on memorizing the 10 Commandments. I have sent home a CD and booklet at the beginning of the school year that covers our memory work for the year. Please play the CD in the car a couple of times a week, so your child can practice their memory work. Mission Trip: River Boys, Part 2 Matheus and Adaias were accepted into the Adventist boarding school, Adventist Agricultural-Industrial Academy. Pastor Herber Kalbermatter helped find them scholarship money, so they could attend. The school was a long ways away from the Amazon River, where their village was. The boys stuck together at school for a while. Everything was new and different. Slowly, but surely, the boys made friends with other children. Soon, they were singing in the choir and having lots of fun. Matheus has decided he wants to be a pastor when he grows up. Adaias wants to be an engineer. They are so thankful to God for opening up opportunities for them to learn more. Bible Story: A Special Day Table Time: Sabbath is a Happy Day paper collage Take Home Guide
