Nature Walk: StorehouseThere are different animals that store food to eat later on. Some you might see in your backyard include the squirrels, moles, mice, and chipmunks! Chipmunks are my favorite. God gave them elastic cheeks that stretch into big pockets to hold food that they haul from one place all the way to their burrow. During winter they have built up a huge storehouse of the best nuts and seeds to eat whenever they are hungry. Do you prepare for the future? Chipmunks and other hoarding animals remind me of a Bible verse in 1 Chronicles 29:2, in which King David says, "Now for the house of my God I have prepared with all my might gold, ...silver, ...bronze, ...iron, ...wood, ...onyx, ...all kinds of precious stones, ...and marble." David did not get to build God's house, but during his time as king, he set aside all kinds of precious things for the time when his son Solomon would build God's house. Do you give God your very best? Memory Mastery: God's Special BookWe are almost done working on God's special book, where we learn important facts about the Bible. Can you please review this with your child at home and make sure they can answer the following questions? We will present this information to the church along with the song, Standing on the Promises.
Mission Helper: Blind HopeMarian is from Poland, and he was born blind. His grandmother read him the Bible, so he learned the 10 Commandments and many Bible stories. When he went to school, he learned to read using Braille, a raised dot system for the blind. In religion class, he asked his teacher why they didn't teach all the 10 commandments. His teacher told him that the Catholic Church had the power to change God's law. Marian decided that he would only follow the Bible. Now, Marian is a Sabbath School teacher. He likes to teach others the Bible and encourages them to follow Jesus all the way. Bible Story: King David Wants to Build a House for GodReferences: 2 Samuel 7 After Saul died, David became the king of Israel. He remembered how good God was to him to protect him all those years that King Saul tried to hurt him. David decided he wanted to build a temple for God, but prophet Nathan told David that God would let David's son Solomon build the temple. God gave David the plans for the temple and helped David set aside money and special things for it. God also gave David a very special promise. He told David that the throne of his family would last forever. In other words, He told David that Jesus would come from his family line. Our prayer verse is 1 Chronicles 29:3, in which David says, "I have set my affection on the house of my God." David loved God so much that he dedicated his most precious things to God's house. We can show God love, too, by taking care of His house. Dear Father God, I love You, and I want to show You love and respect by being careful with Your house. In Jesus' Name, Amen

Nature Corner: Fallen TreesHave you ever walked in the woods and found a fallen tree? It will someday become dirt, but how? There are many bugs that will eat it and break it down. There is fungus, too, that eats it up. Soon, it will become so brittle it will break apart. As the bugs and microorganisms eat it, it will become dirt. Fallen trees remind me of the Bible verse, Genesis 3:19, which says, "For dust you are, and to dust you shall return." Just like trees that fall and die become dirt, God said people become dirt, too, when they die. Can dirt talk? Can dirt think? No. The same is true of dead people. Beware of anyone that claims to talk to dead people. They are really talking to evil angels. Memory Mastery: God's Special BookWe are still working on memorizing important facts about God's special book, the Bible. Can you show your child a Bible while you listen along? Then, try to answer the questions below.
Mission Helper: Church at SchoolIustina and Thea are best friends in Ireland. They go to the Adventist church on Saturdays. At school, they get to tell others about the Sabbath. Sometimes they go to the park with others from church and wear t-shirts that say, "Free Hugs." Their church meets in a school right now. Part of our 13th Sabbath offering will go to build a new church for Iustina and Thea. Bible Story: The Last Days of SaulReference: 1 Samuel 28, 31 The Philistines wanted to attack Israel again, and King Saul was scared. He wanted to know what to do, but God would not answer him through the priests and prophet Samuel was dead. King Saul decided to ask a medium for help. A medium is someone who works for Satan by calling Satan or his evil angels to pretend to be someone who has died. God says, we should never ask a medium for help. We should only pray to God for help. "Who shall I call for you?" the medium lady asked King Saul. "Please call Samuel," he said. Then, an evil angel appeared and pretended to be Prophet Samuel. The evil angel said to Saul, "You and your sons will go to battle with the Philistines and you will all die." King Saul was even more scared now. The next day, Israel battled with the Philistines and King Saul and his sons died. How sad that King Saul did not wait to seek help from God! How sad that he wanted to listen to the devil!
Our prayer verse is Ecclesiastes 9:5, which says, "For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing." Dead people are in their graves sleeping. They cannot hear, they cannot talk, they do not wake up until Jesus calls them at the end of time. We stay far away from mediums, witches and wizards who work for the devil. We only pray to God for help. Dear Father God, I know the dead cannot hear anything. I will pray only to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen. |
