Overnight Camping

It's exciting for your child to go on their first camping trip. We like to do just a one-night camping experience for this age group. So we don't miss church, we leave Sabbath afternoon. So we don't have too many meals to plan for, we come back by lunch time on Sunday. Use this resource to make sure it will be a good experience for your family.

What to Bring for your Family

Tent
Sleeping bag (and mat)
Flashlight
Extra batteries
First Aid kit
Safety whistles
Umbrella or rain poncho
Bug spray
Baby wipes (perfect clean-up for all ages)
Eating utensils and plates/bowls
Water bottles
Toiletries - For a no fuss overnight trip, don't worry about showering while there. Alternately, you can get moist bath wipes or a wipe on body cleanser (like Cetaphil). Choose toiletries that do not smell, or else you will attract wildlife.
Clothes and an extra pair of shoes (in case of mud or accidental water incident)

What to Wear

Dress in layers. It's often cool in the evening and morning, then warm during the day.
Wear closed toe, comfortable shoes. Even when the weather is warm, it's important to keep your feet covered. We will likely do some hiking in the woods, which involves uneven terrain and potential overgrowth of plants.
Wear a hat. Protect your face from sun and your hair from tiny explorers.
