Stars Star
NOTE: The requirements for this award have been adapted to fit the needs of our club.
1. Do you like to look up at the stars at night? When God told Abram to look up at the stars, let's find out what special promise He gave him.
2. Stars are actually not shaped like the stars that we draw. They are huge active balls of gases. That's right, they are spheres! And they do produce light energy as those gases inside them react together. We draw stars in the "star" shape because star light seems to twinkle, which is when something shimmers or glimmers. Twinkling is what makes stars seem like they have rays or lines coming out of them. When those rays reach us, our eyes see them. (P.S. Though the light is constant. when it hits our atmosphere, it bends back and forth, thus causing the twinkling effect.)
Let's play a game called Star, Star. Grab a ball. This is your star. Stand close together to start. Before each time you toss the ball, say this rhyme: "Star, star far away, I still see you anyways!" Then take a step back, say the rhyme, and toss the ball. When someone finally misses, say: "Awe! Star so bright, it must be time for daylight!" Then start over close together if you want to continue playing. NOTE: If your Little Lamb is not well coordinated, then sit down with legs open and roll the ball. If the ball ends up between your legs, then you "caught" it.

3. Do page 12 in the Little Lamb Activity Book. OR Draw and color a picture about stars. OR Practice a technique for drawing stars.
Pin Project Idea: Use a Sky Viewer App to see what stars are out in your view (day or night). Locate a special constellation you like and see it in the night sky. Go outside and view your constellation each evening for a week. Can you make a constellation picture?
Field Trip Idea: Visit a planetarium OR join your local Astronomical Society for a guided star viewing with telescopes.
