Nature Corner: WrenThe wren is my favorite backyard bird. It's small, brown, and plain-looking. It doesn't have an amazing song. I like the wren because it is an amazing little hunter. It searches every nook and cranny for bugs to eat. I like to watch it persevere in searching for bugs. The wren reminds me of the Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:13, where God says, "if you seek Me, you will find Me, if you search for me with all your heart." When we read our Bible stories, we can find Jesus in each one if we search for Him. Sometimes, we have to look extra hard to see Jesus, but if you look for Him like the wren, you will find Him. Nature Corner: DogsThere is a saying that a dog is a man's best friend. That's because dogs are very loving and loyal. They are always happy to see you, their owner. Dogs have become so bonded and helpful to people that we can train and entrust them with important responsibilities, like helping police officers find people, or helping disabled people with daily tasks. Dogs remind me of a Bible verse, Proverbs 18:24, which says, "a real friend is closer than a brother." Do you try to be a good friend? Do you help your friends? Are you happy when good things happen to them? Our Bible story is about David, who had a very loyal friend named Jonathan. Mission Mail: A Place to Call HomeDear Patterson Kids, My name is Yuxin. I am from China, but I live in Austria. My mother taught me about the Sabbath in the Bible, so when I got to Austria I found the International Seventh-day Adventist Church. They worship on Sabbath. Even though I liked going to church on Sabbath, it took a while for me to surrender my whole heart to Jesus and let him change my life. Now, that I am baptized, I no longer go shopping on Sabbaths and I don't eat pork anymore. I also love to read the Bible and can't wait to tell others in my home country about Jesus, my new best friend. Don't be afraid to let Jesus change your life. Sincerely, Yuxin Bible Story: What Jealousy DoesReferences: 1 Samuel 18, 19, 22, 24; PP 650-664 After David defeated Goliath, he became friends with King Saul's son, Jonathan, who also loved and served God. Jonathan even gave David his robe and armor. King Saul gave David a new job leading Israel's army. One day, when David came back from battle, the women started cheering for David that he was a better warrior than Saul. From that day on, King Saul was jealous of David and tried to hurt him. Jonathan refused to have any hatred for David. Instead, they became even closer friends. Soon, they had to say goodbye to each other because King Saul was trying to kill David! Our prayer verse Proverbs 18:24 says, "Some friends may ruin you. But a real friend will be closer than a brother" (ICV). Jonathan was a true friend to David. He wanted to help David succeed in all that God wanted David to do. He was happy for David's success. Are you happy for others when they tell you good things that happened to them? That's what a good friend does. Dear Father God, Help me be a good friend to others by sharing and being happy for them. In Jesus' name, Amen Christmas Bible Story Videos by Gracelink |
