Early Bird Special: Share a Plate Children who arrive between 9:30 and 9:45 AM get to do a bonus activity in Sabbath School. Today our early birds made plates of fake food to share with someone else. Our Bible story today is about a boy who shared his lunch with Jesus, so Jesus could share it with others. Nature Nugget: Mushrooms Mushrooms are the fruit of some amazing organisms God created. Mushrooms can be found on the ground, in leaves, on trees, and even under the water! They sort of look like plants, but scientists classify them as fungi. Mushrooms release spores, which are the seeds of the fungus. The "root" system of the fungi is called mycelium. It looks like a web and can be miles and miles long, even though it occupies a very tiny space. In fact, right in the first inch of soil you can find the most intricate web of fungi, called mycorrhizal fungi. This special fungi forms a beneficial relationship with plants and trees. The mycelium feeds the plant and the plant feeds the mycelium. Plants that have a strong mycorrhizal fungi network are healthy and able to resist many diseases. God says in Jeremiah 23:24, "'Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?' says the Lord; 'Do I not fill heaven and earth?' says the Lord." Like the mycelium that is all around under our feet ready to help plants grow, wherever we are, God is there ready to help us become the best we can be.
